SternMaid awarded TOP Apprenticeship company for the 7th time in a row
Our young people are our future – and young people need prospects. Our colleagues have been working hard for many years to achieve this – a commitment to the region that pays off: this year, the Schwerin Chamber of Commerce once again awarded SternMaid the title of TOP Apprenticeship company.

What makes the apprenticeship at SternMaid so special?
The focus is on proximity: “We try to keep contact with our trainees quite close. We are in daily exchange during their assignment at the company. And when they are at vocational school or on further training courses, they know that they can contact their responsible department heads at any time,” says Mary Dunker. And the concept is well received: Philip Voß is a first-year apprentice as a food technology specialist – he describes the atmosphere at SternMaid as open, respectful and friendly.

Everything according to plan: organization is the be-all and end-all.
However, good vocational training is not a foregone conclusion: with a sophisticated yet flexible plan, SternMaid ensures that trainees see and learn everything that is important for their respective professions, so that they are well equipped for the future. In the process, we also offer one or two highlights: “When I was assigned to occupational safety, I was allowed to check the fall protection system on the roof of Plant 2 with Mr. Loth. A view you don’t get every day!” enthuses Josefine Weber, a first-year industrial clerk trainee.

Feedback culture as early as the training stage
The training officers hold a feedback meeting with the trainees after each training period. Among other things, they use an evaluation form that is filled out by the departments in which the trainees have previously worked for several weeks. They also talk to the class leaders at the vocational schools if necessary. This gives a clear picture of the level of performance and any deficits can be addressed individually and strengths promoted accordingly. The young people then attend several courses to accompany their training – they can help decide which courses to attend.

Diligence that pays off
The fact that the approach is right is shown not only by the repeated award as TOP training company, but also the high takeover rate of more than 80%.
